I think it was about 25 minutes.
Kanetsu, please aim at Omachi city in Nagano via Joetsu. Finally, ride on Prefectural Route 45 and the car is over at Ogisawa. After that you can not go without getting on the trolley bus. It becomes another route when it enters from Tateyama side of Toyama.
I'm discharging water until the middle of October.
??? Meishin Express to Yonehara jc to Hokuriku Road
Alben route is closed now. April 20 full line opening !!
Let's visit again
Although not counted every time, four large trolley buses are nearly full. An 80-person ropeway is full.
It will be at the time of day, but even if it is sunny during the day it is okay with a short sleeve. I think it is convenient to have something to wear for when the sun is not out. The inside of the trolley bus in the road is very cool.
It depends on where you stay, but I think JTB
some. Two days ago, I went down to Lishan.
View and scenary it's great but the service of transportation was poor, cable car to kurobeko very full and too crowded.Feel sorry to person in middle can move nor see anything.I don't feel save inside overcrowded box that hanging high in a single rope.If you go for individual trip be ready to get upset for your queue line easily hijacked in the name of group tourist, that often arrogant and noisy.
The Kurobe Dam (黒部ダム) is Japan's tallest dam at 186 meters. It was constructed over a seven year period and was completed in 1963. Many difficulties were encountered in the process, and over 170 people lost their lives to the project. The dam has since been supporting a hydropower plant in its supply of electricity to the Kansai Region.
it's a beautiful place but it take a lot time to get here, better with a tour
Very nice view
Massive dam with visually stunning views all around.!!! You get to ride in tram, cable car and electric bus.... Views from observatory is gr8..!!
It is in the Kurobe alpine route or also known as the Japanese Alps. I visited the route on the last day of April and the weather was excellent. It took us over 4 hours by train and bus to reach the Kurobe Dam from Nagoya. The bus ride from Ogizawa to the Dam was about 15 minutes through a 6-Km tunnel. It was windy and cold on to of the dam. There is an observation deck that provides a scenic view of the area & the Dam but it involves quite a bit of climbing. There's a kiosk where you can purchase some snacks. You can also have your photo taken at the Dam by the professional. It's definitely worth a visit. The Dam would look different at different time of the year. It gives you a good reason for re-visiting the place again and again (^.*) you can walk over the top of the dam. There is also a boat that offers a 30-minute cruise around the reservoir. In the Rest House, there is a small gift shop and a cafeteria.
One of the must visit destinations of Japan, spectacular! Make sure you have your timing well planned.
Kurobe Dam was originally built after World War II to meet Japan's rapidly growing demand for energy and was an engineering feat at that time and today, it supplies hydroelectric energy to the Kansai Region in Japan. It is a popular tourist destination along the Alpine Route and rightly so, as it offers spectacular panoramic views of the Kurobe Lake and the surrounding mountains, with breathtaking scenery as you walk from one end of the dam to the other. I would recommend climbing the observatory at the East end. While it is a rather steep climb, especially if you are carrying bags, it is definitely worthwhile as it is a bird's eye view of the whole area of the lake, dam, and surrounding forest and mountains. You can even drink the dam water from one of the many streams that they have around!
Visited Alpine routine during August 2nd week, Alpine route is best place to visit during summer. Kurobe is Biggest Dam in Japan. Cool breeze n wonderful feeling.
Beautiful place. You should know the history.
Dam had a very interesting structure. It somehow slopes inwards rather than outwards. Makes the viewer feel very small.
Wonderful natural place to enjoy, best for one day trip.
Epic. The view was all beautiful and priceless experience to get there.
Nice to visit, great view of Dam
Top 3 Place to visit in Japan - Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route, Snow Wall. It's gorgeous and fascinating. I started my journey as early as 6am and complete by 4pm arriving Toyama.
This is the tallest dam in Japan located between bus station and cable car station. There is an observation desk which has to go up about 200 steps of stairs to get there. After arriving at the desk, you will see the breathtaking view of the dam and mountain behind.
Heavenly....Didn't have much time but will explore
Such a wonderful place. Worth visit. And Must try the Pork Cutlet Beef Curry.
I think, Everyone who involved in development project of this massive Dam is amazing. We can experience many kind of transportation modes in this Kurobe Alpine Route tour, such as Cable Car (this is epic!), Highland Bus (the view is epic!), Tunnel Trolley Bus, Ropeway (this is also epic!!), Tunnel Electric Bus, Train, and Cruise (when summer). This trip became my last “spring†trip in Japan, and it is... MANTAPJIWA ! Perfectly perfect completion!
It's a engineering marvel. Mountain sight is amazing, but the time and trouble to get here depends really how w much free time you have.Murudo stop is break taking. The first stop!
Part of the Alpine Route and nice place to have a stroll. Enjoy the view of the mountains as well as water rushing out of the dam at certain period of the year.
A good experience for the lazy to climb a mountain without climbing. 😂😂 Even so, there is a fair bit of stair climbing but the view is definitely well worth the effort. In comparison to the Hoover dam, this is much much more spectacular and much more better in setting. The surrounding mountains only add to the beauty of the dam. Getting up there is an experience too, having to catch an electric bus and also cable car and a mountain tram (funicular???). On the tram, for better photo opportunities I would suggest that you don't sit but stand right at the end or front as they can get pretty packed. This trip is still pretty hard going so I wouldn't recommend it for the really unfit or older people. When you reach the higher areas you will be over 4000m above sea level so some people may get a little altitude sickness with the exertion so take your time and take it easy. Funny enough, smokers seem to have an easier time up there as long as they don't smoke when up there.
If you are in the Nagano region, this place is a must-visit attraction.
Japan's highest hydro dam is quite a journey from Nagano but is well worth it as it's the entry to the Alpine way. Spectacular rainbow from the discharge point with a beautiful walk along the lake. Nice autumn colours in late October.
. Nice place! Come between June 26 tto Oct 15 for Dam opening!
excellent scene of mountains n the reservoir, fresh air, comfortable temperature in May
Great to see the drainage in action. Lots of photo opportunities.
At first you'll feel a but tired but the view up there is amazing and dope.
Nice view, great scenery. It took several hours travelled from city. The old transportation system could reluctantly support streams of tourists. Facilities were ok. Refreshment stores provided simple food and drinks. What lacked was a museum which told the backgroud and history of the great structure.
It's so huge Dam and the view from there was stunning! Don't forget to booked your ticket for tateyama alpen route 1 day before you come to visit the snow wall. And its open onlybfrom march till June. You can play skiing in Murodo
The dam is huge and with beautiful views on both sides of it.Went at beginning of spring and there were workers shuffling snow.Lakes were frozen. Views are astonishing.
I love it. It has a beautiful view, nice shoot and makes me feel relaxed. I went to there on july and it was rainyyyyyyyyy. So many smoke there. But it enough. I love this place. By the way, to get this place you should go to ogizawa stasion by bus and then go to locket. after that buy the ticket (kurobe) so here you go~~~~~~~~~
Huge dam with gorgeous coloured natural water a must go in Japan
Engineering excellence results in breathtaking view. Japan Alps Route is definitely a must see.
amazing view, we spent 2 hours driving here and another 2 hours climbing up to Kurobe Dam, quiet far but worthy the trip.
Nice place to take photographs. Very beautiful scenery.
The alpine route was my highlight of our Japan trip, loved the amazing scenery
The Kurobe dam is on the Alpine route, an exciting journey into the mountains. You go by tram, cable car and bus. The dam is a scenic place where you can relax. The walk to the observatory is a steep climb up many steps so do it slowly. You can have a Refreshing coffee or a drink to cool off on top. Restrooms are also available there. You can also do a scenic boat ride. We missed a dance performance there as we were rushed but look out for jtt. Great photo oops everywhere. Dress warmly as ists cold and breezy.
Very good. Its cold u must bring double jacket
Great scenery but transport bad. Tram car n cable car are very pack until you cannot even turn your body when inside. Pack like sardine.
So great and amazing... so wonderful view
This is a magnificent infrastructure and it is worth travelling. You can walk around the Dam and enjoy the beautiful view of the Lake Kurobeko.
Loved it. Rain was annoying and it would take ages to get to the view point which is limiting if you're trying to do the Alpine route in a day. However this is an amazing feat of engineering and the views are great.
Amazing view.. the dam, the mountain, the snow, the cable car, everything is amazing. I started the trip from Toyama, when get on the cable car, I was standing at the right side which is an advantage since I can see and record the breathtaking view.
Very beautiful. You need to spend time here about 1hr if you want to appreciate it. The highest point to have a beautiful view require high climb. Prepare yourself well. Beautiful.
The fastest autumn red site in Japan. The dam is an impressive structure and apparently an engineering feat. Best if done in combination with other activities on the mountain. The price to reach the top or cover the entire Kurobe alpine route is quite high but the place is always full with hikers/tourist groups. To escape the crowds, proceed to the top of Mt. Tate from Muroto station of Kurobe route. This place is chock-full of people during Spring and Autumn.
It is quite a beautiful dam. But only worth it if you take the complete alpine route. It is fun crossing the dam.
Good place for leisure in autumn peaceful view n u c take rest with snack at kiosik
The Kurobe Dam, a part of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine route, is the highlight of the route itself. I was phenomenally lucky as I was graced with amazing weather during the trip (evidenced in the photos attached). The area features the gorgeous azure Kurobe Lake and eye watering views of forest, mountain and sky. You can walk along the dam, which at 180 something meters (the tallest dam in Japan!) will make you feel weak in the knees as you look over the side. This structure is a marvel of human engineering in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
